anyone else scared to start fellowship in July due to covid ? I am a current hospitalist in an area with low covid cases. I am moving for fellowship in NY for cards and a little worried about the situation and putting my own health at risk. Hopefully things will quiet down by then....

I don't think you'll be deployed by July. Things will hopefully have quieted down by then.
We should start a new fellowship category called hazmat/disaster medicine rated up to the max of 3 roentgen.

The mortality rate is still less than half of a percentage. NYC is booming now so it will likely be way past the peak by the time July hits. I too am starting cards in July but in a state that is still gearing up for the "boom."

Great time to do cardiology. We've been doing E consults for COVIDs and because the hospital is full of COVID, the number of dumb consults has really slowed down.
