Those who had an interview at Vanderbilt, how was it for you? I was suprised that mine was kind of hard because interview feedback didn't make it out to be too tough.

My interviewer was really nice.

I interviewed with Vandy on the second week of January, and I was accepted last Friday (within six weeks). My interview was one hour long and I felt very relaxed during the interview because the doctor was very friendly, very different from the intense interview I had had with Johns Hopkins on the previous week. I thought Vanderbilt has a very thoroughly evaluation process, and it certainly gave me a chance whereas all of the UC schools didn't even bother to interview me. I think Vandy values the whole picture rather than just the numbers, unlike schools like Columbia, UCs, and Stanford, etc... I am very grateful for Vanderbilt's acceptance because that was my first acceptance (my application was finished in late Novemember).

i was there in october, my interview was super laid back, he was really trying to sell me on the school and very little time was spent on my application. They also told us that the interview is not that big a thing in their admissions process. I'm sure it's just a matter of different profs have different interview styles.

retro:

does vanderbilt favor students based on relgious background (like loma linda)?

I don't think Vanderbilt have any emphasis on religious beliefs... no one asked me what my religious affilation was...

Congratulations on your acceptance !

Retro, what was the exact date of your interview?

I interviewed on Jan 17 and am still waiting.

I interviewed there on Feb. 8th and they told me not to expect to hear anything for 6 weeks.

hey mango-a-go-go, are you a big jamba juice fan?

Vanderbilt University has no religious affiliation, so I doubt that such factors weigh into the med school acceptance. The religious people at Vanderbilt left over 100 years ago and moved to Atlanta to form Emory.

Legi, thanks... I interviewed before Jan 17, it is more like Jan 7 or the 8... In fact, if you interviewed on the 17th, the admissions committee will deliberate on your application this coming Friday, they deliberated on my last Friday and sent out the acceptance letter that very afternoon.

So you received the letter a couple days after Friday I guess.
I just hope I can at least get waitlisted.

Hey Matthew, good call on my name! Yes, I am a jamba juice fan, guess which one is my favorite...
