scholarships?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
no idea. I received one from UMiami, but it was out of the blue. I had no clue that I was even being considered for a scholarship, or even that medical schools gave scholarships...that's quite unhelpful, I know...

Military and Dept of Health have scholarships: full tuition and fees plus about $1200/month for living expenses. They have three and four year scholarships. Only catch is you owe a year of service for every year you receive the scholarship. I used to be a medic in the USAF, and knew a bunch of docs that did it. They said it was well worth it. But they were family practice docs. If you want to specialize your salary may more than make up for the debt you accumulate.

Several schools offer merit scholarships as well. Do a search and you'll find several posts, including <a href="http://www.studentdoctor.net/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008568" target="_blank">this one:</a>

[specifically] scholarships outside of the institution that you will be attending...
