Hi! I'm a rising senior, just got my MCAT score back and have my app ready to submit. I am pretty much sure I'm going to apply this cycle, but I would love some feedback on my school list!
GPA: 3.65cGPA, 3.45sGPA
MCAT - 513 (128/128/127/130)
I'm not a US citizen - I have DACA so also not quite international. Not URM, planning on applying with disadvantaged status.
Currently attend a big ten school. Genetics major, Spanish and women's studies minors
Clinical hours - 100 at hospital, 200 projected on AMCAS, I expect to get just as much if not more next year since I've saved up some money and I'm done preparing for the MCAT. Started volunteering at free clinic this summer, have ~30 hours, just got invited back to volunteer with them during the year, planning on getting 50 more! (5 hrs /mo)
Research experience - 2000 hours projected (1500 hours currently) in a cancer genetics lab. Have received two undergraduate research grants, presented two posters, working on an independent project now.
Shadowing - 40 hours, ped ortho surgery.
Extracurriculars - Started a social justice-related student organization on campus, served as president, and did service through it (~300 hours all together, unsure how I should split it up in AMCAS... leadership or service), service for domestic violence shelter (30 hours), worked part-time jobs for 2.5 years, interned at the state senate
My list so far:
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Mount Sinai
Georgetown
OSU
Thomas Jefferson
UCLA
Keck
UNC
Duke
NYMC
Einstein
Dartmouth
Penn State
MUSC
Michigan State
Michigan
UMass
Rutgers
What are my chances at these schools? Do I need a gap year?
And what other schools should I add? if you give me suggestions I can weed out the ones that will not accept DACA so no worries about that. I am very cautious about 'reach' schools, but my Lizzy M score zone is giving me schools like Vanderbilt... should I go for it?!
