Hello all,

Thank you in advance for your help – it is very appreciated. I really just want to go to a medical school in the contiguous US. I don't care too much about ranking.

1. 3.73 cGPA, 3.68sGPA
2. 515 (131/124/131/129) a 124 in CARS worries me, but I know the 515 is what will keep me out of top 20s, not the CARS
3. Residency: CA (CT born and raised, but became a California resident after financial independence, so I am applying as CA res, but I still have strong ties to family in CT).
4. ORM-white. SES Disadvantaged: Yes, EO2
5. Institution: top public school in the US
6. Clinical Experience:
1364 hrs as an RBT with autistic children (paid)
150 hrs with physical therapist as a volunteer (volunteer)

7. Research in an orthopedic biomechanics lab for 3 years
960 hrs, no pubs, an honors thesis was approved though

8. Shadowing: 106 hrs
50 hrs ortho
26 hrs pediatrics
30 hrs OBGYN

9. Non clinical volunteering:
Founded a non-profit to promote science in marginalized communities 1830hrs (semifinalist at a national conference for this)
Coaching a sport - 192hrs
Premed organization - 660 hrs
Red cross - 128hrs
Co-founded tutoring service at local community college 224 hrs

10. ECs:
4 years on a sports team - captain 1152 hrs

11. Honors/Awards:
Honors in Major - honors thesis
Semi-finalist at the Clinton Global Initiative for my non-profit

Here is my current list, which is at 37. I want to whittle it down to 35.

You could remove Toledo (instate and regional bias), Rutgers (instate preferred), Cornell (reach). You should receive several interviews from your list.

If you want to trim down, Sinai and UCSF seem like a bridge too far (they are for me too). I'm skeptical of CNU (a for profit) though I really haven't looked into the school.

Thanks @Faha so much for the advice. I removed Toledo, RWJ, and Cornell to shorten the list. I also took out Sinai to add U Pitt (lower MCAT stats) and added a few schools that other people recommended in other threads. I also just found out I am SES Disadvantaged when my app got verified (EO2), if that makes any difference (though I doubt it).

The question that remains is are there any schools that should be substituted (for a school that is a better fit for me)?
Just to name some examples, should I swap in Albany for somewhere like Oakland Beaumont or Loyola? Or swap in somewhere volunteer oriented like Rush? Or SLU for a low yield school?

Id like to also summon the evil queen herself, @LizzyM , and the great @Goro to take a look at the newly updated list and chime in on potentially fruitful swaps.

Updated List:
UCSD
UCLA
Kaiser
BU
Hofstra
U Pitt

UC Davis

UCONN
Emory
U Colorado

Thanks for looking it over again. I was still looking for an answer to this string of questions.

It is up to you based on the appeal of one school over another.

I actually think Wake Forest is pretty low-yield. I think it's like 10,000 aps and 450 interviews?? I might be wrong though.
