Hello all!

Now that I'm actually an applicant instead of a hopeful, I'd love to know if my school list should be adjusted! I only listed what I included in my primary! My application has a skew towards maternal-fetal health research and talks about how I want to do educational work in that field. I'm a bit concerned that I'm applying too top heavy (namely schools like NYU, WashU, Columbia, Harvard), and want to know if I'm going to just get screened for my MCAT. Thank you so much!!

1. sGPA: 3.85, cGPA: 3.82
2. MCAT: 513 (128/128/128/129)
3. FL resident URM (African American female)
4. T5 (took a covid gap year)
5. Clinical Experience: 900hrs 911 EMT
6. Research Experience: combined 1000hrs with 2 different mfm global health lab (co-first author pub and a 3rd author pub)
7. Shadowing: 40hrs ER/OBGYN
8. Volunteering: 120 hours at women's homeless shelter, founding member of new sexual assault coalition (300hrs), ER voting registration (200 hrs)
9. Varsity athlete (4000hrs), Board member for drama club/been in 7 different student productions/just finished directing a production (2500hrs), founder of black athletic affinity group (400hrs), vice president of social org (200hrs)
10. Upcoming gap year: International teaching fellowship in the UK (projected 2000 hours or something I forget what I wrote)

Have you connected with SNMA chapter officers at the schools on your list?

Your school list does shade "top heavy" to me on your stats, but you have a lot of great activities that could still put you on their radar. It isn't clear what your purpose is as a physician. You have a lot of great advocacy activities that hint at what you feel strongly about now, but what do you expect from the schools that you interview with or the one that ultimately you join?

I haven't reached out to these chapters, is this just a matter of emailing and letting them know I'm applying?

You should receive several interviews from the schools you applied to. Add Einstein (free tuition).

Add Chicago. You should do well. Maybe some HBCUs if you’re interested.
