Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. I am in my third year of a university-based PsyD program. Ever since starting, I've set myself up to enter the match. Historically, many students in the school program have not entered the match, though this is changing now that we have a partially-affiliated consortium that just became part of the match last year. The match statistics from last year show an abysmal 60% match rate across all school PsyDs, but with a small sample size (n=25). The match rate for my program from 2011-2016 is not much better at 65% (n=20), but it is inflated by the addition of our consortium last year. Still, this appears to be better than the other School PsyD match rates across the board. Of the 15 individuals who matched, only 11 matched to accredited internships. I read in the APPIC interview thread that school PhDs feel like their apps might be thrown out simply because they say school instead of clinical, so I get the sense that school PsyDs might be even more stigmatized. I have already created a short list of sites based on whether they have taken school students in the past few years, the number of intervention and assessment hours required, and my areas of interest. I am not geographically restricted, so I am hoping that this increases my chances. However, I have noticed that my interests have taken a clinical shift since beginning my program, so I am not only applying to school-based sites. Are there any school PsyDs out there who have matched? If so, have you matched to a non-school district/school-based placement? Thank you!
