School visits/open houses

I'm thinking of doing some tours of the DO schools I'm interested in and attending the open houses. Do these add anything to your application at all? I'm not sure I want to do these for any of the schools where I don't feel like I have much of a chance at (schools that favor IS candidates) but I may if it adds something? It's something I want to definitely do for the schools at the top of my list.

If you go to open houses prior to being offered an interview it is entirely just for you. There is no benefit to your application/candidacy. However, if you make a fool of yourself or leave a bad impression then it could absolutely be detrimental.
