Schools CURRENTLY requesting interviews

The basic jist behind this post is I want to find out when schools stop sending out interview invites. But it is very hard to determine a negative result. So the best way of going about this is to figure out when the last positive result was. So when ever you get an interview, you post the school and the date you recieved the interview invite. So if a school like NYU doesn't offer any SDNer's a invite for a month, we know that they have probably stopped interviewing.
Also put a rough estimate of when your file was complete in the subject line, not the list, so we have rough idea of what part of the application pile they are processing.

For example if Scooby gets an invite from NYU yesterday, hey would post:

I just got an invite from NYU today. My app was complete about december 15.

And if mpp got an interview invite from Mayo today, she would cut and paste NYU and her(his?) message would be like this:

Mayo interview. Was complete about sept 10. phone interview december 13.

Mayo 1/18
NYU 1/17


And if next week, Trek gets an invite from NYU, he would do as follows:

NYU invite. Complete Dec 18.

Mayo 1/18
NYU 1/25

Did anyone else also notice that there was a Grandpa Smurf and a Papa Smurf (I babysat my niece the other day and had a refresher course), but there wasn't a Grandma or Mama Smurf? I bet the producers/writers did that to mess with the little kids' heads.

There was occasionally a Grandma-type smurf on. She usually hung around with Sassette.

correct me if i'm wrong, but there isn't a single school out there that's already finished interviewing--it's only january!!!--especially in light of the late start many schools got due to AMCAS. so this thread is rapidly going to turn into the same thing as the *other* interview thread, right? SDNers are hardly a representative sample of the entire applicant pool, so all we can learn from this thread is when SDN applicants have stopped interviewing, not necessarily when a certain school has stopped requesting interviews of anyone for good.

this is a very odd collection of new graemlins that we've been given.

Correction. NYU is done for sure. Baylor should be done sending out interviews withing the next week. Columbia should be done really soon. I don't think a lot of the schools are actually behind that much. Maybe a week or two for the majority. If you look at interviewfeeedback.com, a lot of the schools that stop interviewing on feb 15th, started interviewing this year the same time as last year.

really??? then i stand corrected--i wasn't aware that anyone has actually stopped interviewing at this point in the application cycle. it still seems pretty early to me. my understanding of the way many schools are coping with the AMCAS fiasco is NOT that they are extending the march 15 AMCAS deadline (as mentioned in another thread) but that they are working more quickly to process applications in order to stick to the same deadlines as in past years, so i just didn't see how some schools could already be done. at least i didn't apply to any of the schools you mentioned!

Actually this topic is different anyway cuz it includes the most recent date a letter was sent. And for those people who are still on hold for interview that is a very important and encouraging piece of information!

Also keep in mind that, while there are schools that are actually wrapping up all their interviews, there are also schools that are getting close to handing out their last interview invitations. There are some schools out there inviting people for mid-April interviews, so those schools are just about done with invites. Therefore, I think this thread gives us a good idea of where things stand with different schools.

Nope, because different schools end their interviewing times at different times and they also schedual in advance different. The best way to tell if you don't have a chance to get an invite would be when the schools stops sending out the interview invites, not when they actually stop the interviews. Someone could get an invite, schedual in March, and that doesn't tell you anything.

Jalbrekt, When and how did you find out that NYU was finished interviewing?

that's true, but just because nobody's posted that they got an interview at a certain school in a while doesn't tell me anything either. most applicants don't even know this board exists...

even if they did, and the last person to be interviewed by a school (without knowing he's last) puts down his stuff, how are we supposed to know that he's the last.

just because i don't see a school i'm interested in getting listed doesn't mean that they're done..that would be a heck of an assumption on my part.

so i was thinking that (unless people know when a school is done..like jalbrekt knew that nyu is done, and post it) telling us their date of interview is more helpful because although someone can book a march interview while slots in feb are still open, it tells us that many of feb's slots are filled up...eventually when we see march's and april's we'll be most sure that a school is almost finished. but if that doesn't help that much (you're right, it's not THAT helpful) then nothing helps. but it seems to make sense. unless i'm missing something..i AM high on crack right now

Your right. This is a very imperfect system, but if a school doesn't have a new interview in a month, you can reasonably assume it is done interviewing. There was another list of when schools are ending their interviews, but it died out and I didn't trust it.

i think it might have been bebe that actually called the admissions office at nyu and they told her they'd interview well into march. so that's a start. if more people that have actually spoken with the admissions secretary can mention when a school's done..that would work too (probably best thing..but only post if you know for sure).

by the way..somebody messed up with mt. sinai i think. it's not our scheduled interview date..it's the day we receive the letter. correct?
