Honestly, no idea where to start on the schools list. My sGPA is lower than most schools averages or below the 20/10th percentile. I feel like I have really reinvented myself in my GPA though and have done a lot of advocacy and volunteering in my community/ school. Any advice for schools to apply to or avoid?

Your non-clinical volunteer experience is quite low and I would recommend getting more hours before applying. Most people try to have ~150 non-clinical volunteer hours and 150 hours of patient exposure/clinical experience.

Regardless, as a CA applicant with those stats, I would probably focus on DO schools. You can throw an application to a few MD programs like
CUSM
UC Davis
UCR (only if you’re from the “inland empire”)
CNU - be aware most SDNers hate this school as it’s the only for-profit MD program
MCW
TCU/UNT
Quinnipiac
NYMC
Albany MC
Seton Hall (Hackensack)
Tulane
Uniformed Services (be aware of the military commitment)

At DO school, your options are wide open. I recommend:
Western-Pomona
Touro-CA
Touro-NV
KCU COM
DMU COM
ATSU KCOM
ATSU SOMA
Lots of people like Midwestern (CCOM and AZCOM), but I think the price tag is outrageous.
If you’d like to branch out to the east coast, you could consider VCOM, PCOM, and NYITCOM.

DO school is a great option that matches well into OB/GYN. You’ll be well taken care of at any of the above schools.

I suggest these MD schools with your stats:
California University
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Riverside (if you are from that region)
Loma Linda
TCU-UNT
NOVA MD
Creighton
St,. Louis
Loyola
Medical College Wisconsin
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
New York Medical College
Seton Hall
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
George Washington
Georgetown
Eastern Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth
Wake Forest
For DO schools I suggest these:
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
TUNCOM
AZCOM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
DMU-COM
MU-COM
CUSOM
VCOM (all schools except Monroe)
PCOM
LECOM (all schools)
