OK people, you guys seem to kind of missed the instructions! :D

You can only give ONE POINT to ONE PERSON, not 853 or 3/5th of a vote?! Contrary to popular belief, we are not voting in FLORIDA ;)

so lets have fun this time (not like we didn't last time :D), but correct voting people....well according to the last post I saw, in that thread Kimberly Cox was leading the rest of us by 832 votes....u go kimberli ;)

ehem.....

Ok square one

Scooby (0)
Watcha (0)

1 vote for 1 person ONLY :D

As stated before...watcha is da man :)

C'mon Watcha, let's not propagate false stereotypes here. Everyone knows it's only the Palm Beach and Broward County voters that don't know to fill out a butterfly ballot. The rest of Florida knows how cast a vote just fine. So, when does the voting end? First one to 100? Or whoever has the most votes after at the end of a certain day?

Nah, you're still in the running. I'll decide eventually. I think all of us Florida voters should vote in a bloc, we'll have more influence that way. Not to mention all the bribes we'll get. What do all the SDN'ers in Florida think?

Scooby, I will vote for you if you give me at least an interview!!!!!! By the way, is thong considered the only appropriate interview attire?
Watcha, you should think what you say before you say it (ha--coming from me), some people will think you are a racist pig (your 27 MCAT post-reply to somebody).

Watcha,

You're not going to let this go, are you??! :)

After careful deliberation, I have decided that you guys need publicity managers. Of course, I can only be a publicity manager for one candidate, but whoever is fortunate enough to have me as the publicity manager will win (for sure!). Before I decide, I need to know what you two have to offer me.

I will be more than happy to accept bribes of any type!! Please don't be hesitatant. After careful review of the bribes, I will then let you two know which one I've picked and from then on, the lucky one is ensured a victory.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns.

Yours faithfully,
Pendulum

ehem, apparently my opponent Scooby has began the negative publicity campaign to smear my name.....I didn't think you would go this far :(

hehehe :D

why am I considered a racist pig?
 I asked if he was a minority?!

Watcha, I just tried being funny and like any good politician, dug up a post to incriminate you. So while you are not a racist pig, if somebody advertizes it right, you CAN BECOME one!!!!!!!! So watch your back, Watcha.
I am giving YOU a vote, since Scooby is obviously ignoring me :(
So, my vote is:
Watcha 1
Scooby 0

I cannot tolerate smear tactics!!

Watcha (3)
Scooby (1)

But I think we should go back to Socialist MD's rules for voting! ;) We SDN elders should have more voting clout! :D

Watcha (1)
Scooby (0)
Original (infinity)

You know you love me ;)

Original, that's ballot-box stuffing! And for a write-in-yourself candidate! You should be ashamed of yourself!!! ;)

Watcha and Scooby, you might want to appoint some poll-watchers! :D

SMW! you might want to be more careful next time you're addressing an elected official. I'll let it slide this time; but next time you display such conduct I'll be forced to request a huge bribe in addition to an official explanation on my desk by Monday morning.
:D

Wow. A lot of voting going on here.

I think we should all vote for Watcha, since Scooby has a shaky love life and is likely to be impeached or destracted from his duties by hitting on young interns. :D Ever heard about Scooby's "love shack". Well, pretty self-explanatory. Is it a nick name for a bordello? Scooby, you need to keep your constituents informed!!

no complaints here :D

and the winner of this contest gets to be the new systems administrator...

sorry Jamier2...u know I've been keeping and eye on ur position for a while ;)

Can someone please say conspiracy? :D

yes according to my publicist lady in red....it has been reported that Scooby has been unfaithful to his wife of 10 years. SDNers feel they don't like man with no moral guidance (never mind the fact, that they don't mind when a person HAS moral guidance, but absolutely no millitary or economic guidance)

It is a real oddity in the land of SDN, where people prefer morality over economic and science leadership! :D

So at this point WAtcha leading

Wathca (3)
Scooby (1)

as such the CNN-Gallup poll reveals the same (never mind the fact that we just create the numbers up :D)

Watcha 30%
Scooby 10%

ps (I would like to thank my publicist for spinning this story into new dimensions....)

I gotta say that watcha and scooby are complete dorks. Dorks that are afraid of posting their pics too. I had respect for you guys but come on this is freakin lame! Get a life guys, try to prove your popularity in person not on a pre-allopathic message board. I guess if you did do that you would make yourselves look even more pathetic.

Oh it's on now. I wonder where this is headed.

Simpleton, chill. They were just two guys bored on a Friday night who wanted a little humor in their lives. This is kinda amusing :). Since I got in trouble last time for my 2 Florida votes, you both get kisses instead :)

Original: I'm giving you the infinity assosiated with all Real numbers... as opposed to the infinity associated with integers... but only because you have Russel's paradox as your signature.

Hey csgirl I'm appointing you as my secretary-of-state effective immediately. But if you would rather be Vice-President just let me know. My objective is to saturate my entire cabinet with math and cs geeks such as myself. I guess it's an innate Darwinian tendency.

:D

My previous post was said mostly in jest so PLEASE nobody go on a tyrade. If i'm the only one who thinks their lame than thats my problem.

LOL!

u guys are tooo funny... I cant believe you are doing this.. seriously, GOT LIFE??

:)

gosh when I read your last post I was like
 huh, it was so OUT Of character for you.....Nobody needs to win a popularity contest...it was a joke to have fun....if it is bothering you so much, I could erase the thread :D

grumpy voters ;) (we want your vote, not ur opinion hehe)

Simpleton...Never really liked you anyways..vote for watcha ok?
  :p :p

And it's "they're" ...not "their"

And I am sure that if we had a vote on our pictures..watcha and I would come in way way way ahead of you...
and let's add Tbone to the mix while we are at it! and Jalbrekt...

^Scooby Has Rabies...?

Wow scooby! Judging by your post I think I struck a nerve or hit you with a rolled up newspaper. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean to put a damper on your popularity contest. Thanks for correcting my grammer too, I guess I'm human
;) If you want to try to insult me further why don't you private message me so you don't jeopardize your reputation on SDN.

Settle down, children! ;)

Oh please simpleton...you just need to relax and chill out a bit...
SMW...get the paddle!

original: Thanks for the cabinet position. I really need some leadership experience to put on my application.

I'm such a CS major... it's scary. I remember this one time I was with a guy who was flirting with me miserably. To change the subject I said "Did you know that you can create any picture using mathematical functions?! That's how they made Toy Story!... all mathematical functions!". He said "Yes, but is there a mathematical function that can tell if, and why, one person falls in love with another?" I said, "Well, considering the number of variables involved you'd need a matrix... but yes." Then one of my fellow CS/math nerds added "Matrix theory rules!!"

But then again, every matrix is a function that has linearity property. So I guess the answer to the guy's question was yes. More precisely though, one would require a matricized system of differential equations. Strogatz's book on Non-linear dynamics and chaos actually has an entire chapter dedicated to that kind of sillyness. The 2 characters in the model were called Romeo and Julliet.

Man has this thread deteriorated.

original: Will you marry me?

And I thought I was a nerd

Of course, if you find a proper (mutually orthogonal) basis for the love matrix, it makes solving the love problem that much easier... :D

Ain't it fun being a math major?? :)

Brandonite is right on the money. Even if your original basis is not an Orthogonal Normal Basis (ONB), you can use the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization algorithm to acheive this goal.

Ok, now I don't know what you guys are talking about. :( I'm just a humble CS major. You design the solution, and I'll design the algorithm and the program that runs the solution. How about that? ;)

So, here I am procrastinating (big surprise!). And, I decide to peek at the Scooby vs. Watcha thread to discover it's become a two person math dialogue!! That's just too funny. I was a math minor and I loved Discrete and Abstract Algebra, but woah, you guys have taken this to a new level. So, when's the wedding planned for?? ;)

One more thing...

Watcha and Scooby,
I think most of us don't WANT to decide b/t the two of you. Who wants to turn down Scooby snacks? Also, Watcha you have all those religious followers; you've probably brainwashed the entire clan! If we don't vote for Watcha we'll have to live in fear of a WW III or some sort of retaliation, and if we don't vote for Scooby, he'll go into retirement and we'll have no more new Scooby movies!

   :p :) ;) :D

A computer program to analyze the love matrix? I think I smell a hit late-night infomercial coming on! :D

Anyway, to those of you who think we're strange... Well, I don't see the point in learning every single stupid plant class, so, y'know... :)

Hey Brandonite cut our bio major colleagues some slack. Knowing those plants could really come in handy when trying to buy weed off the streets. They can smell bad weed from a mile away and that keeps them from getting reaped off.

Actually I just wrote a program to evaluate a hilbert matrix (using a little fortran)... I'm afraid the love matrix would be similarly ill-conditioned.

I think scooby lost the public relations effort :D

and I think the math majors have taken over this thread :(
