Scooby and Watcha are having a popularity contest....I know I am going to lose...but let the games begin...who is the favorite of the two?!

Scooby (0)
Watcha (0)

if you like Scooby, give him 1 point.....if you like watcha, give him 2 points...at the end the character with the most points wins popularity contest :D hehe

no kiddin' give me 1 point also :)

anyway...let the games begin....hehe

(PS Scooby and I can vote for ourselves at well)

Oh and scoobzie, no logging in with different aliases?! okay....so any SDN member with less than 50 posts (aka NOT senior member) will have their vote deleted...cuz we don't want the same people voting ten times for themselves under different names :D

Members don't see this ad.

Ok I give myself the first vote :)

Watcha (1)
Scooby (0)

(new members add yourself to the list...and lets see who wins popularity contest)

so lets say SMW votes for Watcha ;)

Then new list should look like this

Watcha (2)
Scooby (0)
SMW (0)

(every person who votes add your name to the last of the list) :D

Dr. Burnett can be the referee HEHE ;) (ehem,...your on my side remember, so if you accidently delete scooby's posts then I dont mind :D

ok so

right now

Watcha (1)
Scooby (0)

let the games begin hehehe :D

HAHAHAHAHAHA....
oh man...
I will vote for watcha too :)
It's gonna be like that damn movie theme where I vote for the other guy and lose by one point :)
After all...how could I possibly enjoy reading my own posts???? It's just insane!
Watcha is the man ;)

Watcha (2)
Scooby (0)

And yes...it is a Friday night..and we are both home...alone...

:D :D :D :D :D

what is the use of winning a popularity contest, if we don't have a group to hang out with?

shame on you SDN people...and it is my birthday in two days! :(

anyway the party tomorrow should be fun hehe

hehe scoobz thanks for the vote now I feel bad...ok I do a Florida election Recount...so new vote is

Scooby (1)
Watcha (1)

Awww..how nice :)
Aren't we just two peas in a pod!!
  :p :p :p

1 vote for Scooby for great entertainment! :D

2 votes for Watcha, for equally great entertainment, and that great status-check thread! :D :D

Scooby (2)
Watcha (3)
SMW (0)

I can't believe you guys...nor myself for even replying! Don't you boys have some exam/secondary to fill out/interview to prep for or some other constructive activity? :D

Well since you're just both the greatest...I will each give you one point. Well come to think of it...Scoob you have been mean to me in the past (i.e that whole post about me wanting to be a CT surgeon and you basically saying that it was bull cuz no one knows what they want to be at such an early stage)and Watcha has ALWAYS been nice...so 2 for watcha and one for scooby (unless scoob redeems himself to me). And SMW, you're now on the list?

Scooby (3)
Watcha (4)
SMW (0)

BTw - the winner has to post his pic :D

Now, if I DIDN'T vote Scooby, he'd assault me with IM's, all of them written in a fit fo panic and fury...oh, wait, he already does that!

Still though, if I don't, he'll mug me when he comes out to NY in a few weeks. These Californians can be scary!!!!!

But wait, why should I let intimidation sway me? I am STRONG!!!! I am PROUD!!!! I am WOMAN, HEAR MY ROAR!!! I'm.....I'm.....

Ahhhhhh, what the heck! Scoob, I'll giva you 1 just b/c you're Scooby. Watcha & SMW, you're both just the sweetest, so here, have 2.

All right Scooby, let the hotheaded IMs begin..... ;)

Scooby (4)
Watcha (6)
SMW (2)

Gosh darn, I'm gonna buckle!!!! I can't help it....Scooby calls me "dork", which "in Scooby World is a term of endearment." How can I slight him in light of that??

I'm sorry, I really love ya man (*sniff*)(*sniff*)(*SOB!!!*)

Scooby (5)
Watcha (6)
SMW (2)

OH sheesh!

I'm already torn b/t choices. But, after careful deliberation, I've come to my decision. I'm going to give Scooby 3 whole points just for being Scooby and goofy! After all, he did accept me to his school (though I have no idea what exactly is involved in the learning process??)

I'm going to give Watcha 2 points b/c he's such a great person. Though lately, he's been kind of sparse...(don't burn yourself out, Watcha)

SMW, I'm going to give you 2 points! You had to wait for your MCAT scores just like I did, and you're always so nice and supportive.

Morninglight, everytime someone new votes she/he puts her/his name up on the list, so I'll add you in. I think I'll give you a 2 to get you caught up. Same with you, E'01.

Here goes...

Scooby (8)
Watcha (8)
SMW (4)
Morninglight (2)
E'01 (2)
Pendulum (0)

BTW, this is soo pointless, yet here I am. Watcha, happy early B-day!!!!

People, I do believe AMCAS has taken your brains and turned them to mush.

I think we now have too much time on our hands. :D

Ok, I am sorry but I feel I must tread the fenceline and give each of you 1 point. I also must suggest a new past time to fill the empty hours created by getting through AMCAS application process :D :D :D

Scooby (9)
Watcha (9)

Are we suppossed to vote on everyone or just the two of you?

Ah sheesh. If it makes you feel better, I spent all night looking at hospital sites wondering what in hell a person with no MD or experience could work in a hospital as.

Lessee....cuz Scoobs and Watcha have both been great friends, I'll give each 2...well wait. Scoobs doesn't like the asian chicks, so maybe I'll just give him 1. well, I take that back cuz he doesn't like blond chicks either and then he'll whine ;).

Scoobs (11)
Watcha (11)

Morninglight's a sweetie (and cutie) so (3)
SMW (4)
Pendulum (1)
E'01 (1/2) can't give a full one just cuz I haven't seen the name around before :).

So it's past Friday night, but I just woke up, so my body thinks it's still Friday night :)

Ack, this is too tough. Since I've actually met Scoobs in person though, I have to give him the edge.

Scooby (12)
Watcha (11)

Who knows though, my mood may change in a few hours. ;)

What, Scooby doesn't like Asian chicks? Well, since I'm Asian and I'm offended, I'm going to take away 2/3 points. He still has 1 left since he's such a good sport. But, it's a women's prerogative to change her mind...

So....

Scooby (10)
Watcha (11)

;) ;) ;)

I love it that the first 7 posts in this thred (or some spelling) are just Scooby and Watcha, all late on a friday night. What? The great scooby not out with a girl? What's this world coming to. Then I remembered he goes to Berkeley, nd he has quality standards. (Nothing personal to Berkeley girls. Were playing them in football tonight) If you guys end up at the same school you should be roommates. Wouldn't that just be the cutest?

Ok, the Logic for my vote. I owe Scooby 12.50$, so that is one point for him.

I always get harassed for the type of girls I like and don'tlike, so another point for Scoob.

I don't want to insult anybody else, so .1 points for every other person on this list.

I just got to rejections and a hold in my mail yesterday after getting no mail for 2 weeks. So 3 points out of sympathy for myself.

Scooby (12)
Watcha (13.1)
Morninglight (3.1)
SMW (4.1)
Pendulum (1.1)
E'01 (3/5)

decisions, decisions, decisions.. ah, i'll just give everyone some pts until i make a decision. so it looks like watcha is still in the lead.

Scooby (13)
Watcha (14.1)
Morninglight (4.1)
SMW (5.1)
Pendulum (2.1)
E'01 (6/5)

So Rohit, I have a question? Why is it everybody got a point but E'01 only got .6 points? Do you like us more or have a bone to pick with E'01 or what? ;)

What good does the voting system do if you can cast multiple points (votes)?

Giving to Scoobs. Sorry, Watcha, but the deciding factor was the fact that you scream a lot in your posts! Too many all-caps there; I am going deaf in one ear!

Scooby (14)
Watcha (14.1)
Morninglight (4.1)
SMW (5.1)
Pendulum (2.1)
E'01 (6/5)

what happened here!!!

hello people!!! We need a Florida recount!!!

ehem...and I will do the recounting.... :D

hehe

E'01: True...I really don't think anyone can know you want to go into Cardiothoracic surgery at this point without going into medicine yet...I never went back to that thread b/c I got sidetracked so I never saw your reply....

Lilycat: Thanks for the vote...This thread is too funny now b/c everyone decided to cast multiple votes...Next time I will get YOU drunk in Houston ;)

Pendelum: You are not "asian"...you are middle eastern..which is my type of woman...
The type of women I like are: Latinas, Middle Eastern, Hapa (half asian), and dark haired caucasians...BUT, that doesn't mean I wouldn't fall for an asian / blondie...

Jalbrekt: You the man...how's your blonde chick coming along? Do we have any common interviews coming up? Thanks for the vote :)

Accept_me-Oktoberfest: Oktoberfest is actually already over in Germany...so I think it's time to change your name...Did you know it ended on like October 6th or something? Pretty wild huh? Me?? Cocky?? what ya talking about? Everything I post is in good humor...

So in the end...I don't think watcha or me will win...I concede to Brooke Burne from Wild on E.

Nah..i don't care...
I don't need to win to compensate for ..um..yea...
:)

When the rules are finalized, let's start this baby over. I like the suggestion of # posts = # votes.

Let's see, how can I add a twist? If the votes aren't weird enough, I'm going to put them in a different set of numbers. Everyone now has an imaginary score :D

Scooby (-14 +i)
Watcha (-14.1 -i)
Morninglight (-4.1 +4i)
SMW (-5.1 -4i)
Pendulum (-2.1 +9i)
E'01 (-6/5 -9i)
KimberliCox (-2x * y +16i)
lilycat (0 -16i)
jalbrekt(3 +25i)
jiffyboy (-10000000000000 -25i)
USeF (0 + 36i)

Just like the math majors to come in and confuse the hell outta everyone.

oops, looks like my math was a bit fuzzy in the morning. now its back to normal.

E'01 (-8/5 -9i)

sorry, I'01, that just gives you a little bigger negative....

Leorl messed it up for me (sorry). Morninglight gave me 2 (thank you my friend)and then leorl gave me 1/2. Um hold on...lemme get my calculator...okay....2 plus 1/2..that's ummm 2.5!!! Watcha, what's option #27???

scooby if i said that i knew i wanted to be a pediatrician would that have changed your attitude?

haha u get em girl! yah right scooby...u also claimed that you "knew" u wanted to be a pediatrician......

"Scooby running for office tells lies to constituents...drops 23% in polls....Americans say they dont trust scooby official...."

Today's gallup pollup revealed that Watcha at this point is leading by a 10% margin

Judy Woodruff take the mic hon...

Thanks watcha (never mind the fact that you own this television station)

but the latest polls show this in terms of popularity:

Watcha 20%
Scoobzie 10%

haha :p :p :p :p

That's right - speak the truth Watcha. Thank you! I think Scooby suffers from a swelled head sometime...he needs to get anoccasional deflation.

E'01...that is total BS!!!

I claim to not know what I want to go into...however, I could say that I would like to work with kids..that doesn't mean I want to be a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, with a little urology and gastroentology on the side, practitioner!!

You see..there is a huge difference between specialties and primary care. While I am open to go into any of those...I think that saying you want to go into any one specialty with all your hopes and dreams is a little extreme....watcha..i am gonna kick yo...
I actually just had a dream that I met you watcha...(just last night)..it was wierd...you were just as crazy in person...
I think that most people will agree that choosing a field like pediatrics or primary care or geriatrics is something we could say we want to be at this time.
However, choosing something like CT is just wild. HOWEVER, you could say I would like to work with people with heart disorders or something to that effect b/c of the problems my family has had with it (just guessing) or b/c of the research you have done with it...You could say that but there are so many options once you get to that field you are shorting yourself by saying you want that...It's like going to the ice cream store and always getting vanilla ice cream. One day they have the flavor of the month, but you decide you want vanilla...the whole way there you are like "i can't wait to get the vanilla ice cream...I love vanilla ice cream...nothing will keep me from my wonderful vanilla ice cream!" For the past 2 years you have only had vanilla and never even looked at the other flavors...then this time...OH NO!!!! Someone has screwed with you and they are OUT OF VANILLA ICE CREAM!!! Whatever shall you do? It's not under YOUR CONTROL anymore...Do you still want ice cream???? Or do you (gasp gasp) look for a different flavor?

Do you know how many years of residency you need to become a CT? Have you looked into other fields? What sort of people will you be helping as a CT? Why not just cardiology?
I am saying it's a little ridiculous for you to go into med school saying "I want to be the specialty of the specialty of this sub specialty"...UNLESS of course, you have already gone through all those other little specialties to get to that one you want...(hope that made sense)...I can't believe no one has supported me on this....
Is there anyone out there who agrees with me????? It's funny b/c the people at the interviews I have been to (the head haunchos who talk) say "we know many of you don't know what you want to do...in fact, if you say you want to be a CT for instance (said at Baylor), then we will probably just laugh at you!!"

Anyone?

Calm down kid. If you happen to remember, I did GET into a medical school so Baylor need not worry about me. I don't go around saying things without looking into them:CT surgery equals 4 years of med school, 4 years of surgical residency (some schools 5 where you do research in the 5th year) and 3 years of fellowship. Btw why are you so overly concerned about what I say in my interviews??? Apparently it's working. ciao.

I don't know...while the idea that most eopple going in don't really know what they want makes a lot of sense to me, I don't think that is neccessarily true for
everyone.

I finished treatment for childhood leukemia (ALL) six months ago, and at the moment I really want to go into pediatric oncology. I understand that I may not be far enough out to be objective, that I may end up in another specialty, or even another career. It's true that I haven't really experienced or closely examined every specialty out there (although, I think the same could be said for choosing medicine in general...I haven't experienced being a lawyer or a teacher or a figherfighter, either). However, with that said, I don't think it's wrong to say that right now, that is the direction that I'm heading...and I don't think interviewers would laugh at me for saying that (at least, I hope not. ;)

I guess my question is about the ice cream shop analogy. Who is the "someone" who screws with you and takes away all the vanilla ice cream? Would that be not
getting into the residency/intenship you want? What if the one you want isn't competitive (at least, relatively noncompetitive)? I understand that the point of the analogy was to show that you can't really say that you only want vanilla if you haven't at least tried the Phish Food, but is there anything/anyone who could really prevent you from going straight vanilla? (I don't know very much about this process, and am just curious.)

Thanks in advance for any input.

DR. E'01...I think you are the one bragging.... here you say I have a big ego????...whatever...
Aren't your scores like 39 and a 4.0? (If i remember correctly...)
You are smart..yea..no doubt about it....
It's not even so much the fact that you "know" you want to do CT...it's that you came off really bad in your other post by making fun of other women who want to go into pediatrics..that's initially what got on my nerves.

For the other person - CT is a destination..not a direction!! And that is my major point on this whole thing...
You could say, "i want to work with kids...and maybe something to do with cancer...so i guess that puts me somewhere around pediatric oncology...however, maybe just oncology..or maybe just pediatrics..or somewhere in there.."

If E'01 had said...cardiology really interests me b/c of my research with it and all....as well as surgery b/c I like to get in there and make a physical difference myself rather than letting antibiotics or another medicine do something...AND after shadowing a surgeon for a few months I decided I loved it...or my parents are surgeons and I love them or something....then that would support your argument and you could have told me a long time ago to shove it and I would have LOVED you for it!!!
Jeez...I LIKE TO CHALLENGE PEOPLE!!!! SIMPLE! FIGHT ME DAMNIT! BUT PROVE YOUR POINT! Don't just say, I understand the time committment and this is it (something pulled out of a book or $hit)...substantiate yourself...

E01..i thought you were applying this year...isn't this correct? I guess before I keep going I should really ask or you should say..."Why do you want to become a CT surgeon?"
Do you have the skills to become a surgeon? Do you think your personality will fit what a surgeon is? (I say this b/c it is very interesting what types of people go into certain areas and it always seems to be cocky = surgery, SUPER NICE = pediatrics, Laid back = anesthesiology, etc etc...FROM MY EXPERIENCES) (this is not meant as an attack...I just think that our personalities dictate a huge part of what we go into).
I do not think I am invasive enough to become a surgeon. I tend to be much more on the gentle side and more of a care giver...
I was amazed at watching a surgeon go in and just rip apart stuff...a little too invasive and rough for me..I would rather deal on a little more gentle side..but who knows...Maybe I'll be a surgeon down the road.

Well scooby I'm talking to you right now and I'm glad we've sorted things out. Sorry SMW if you experienced all this.

I think ya meant pendelum...not SMW :)

I love E'01...it's funny...we had always talked on AIM before this...but her AIM name is totally different from her SDN name...so when i messaged her today she stated she was responding to my reply to her..and I was like "huh? what reply" and then she proceeded to tell me that she was E'01....we had a good laugh then decided we loved everything about each other but still disagree on certain points which is OK :)

That's not all that's swollen on Scooby. Have you checked out his list of songs that define him? ;)

Aw, you know I'm just kidding around with you Scooby. Don't get your feelings all hurt now ok? :)

It's one thing to know what you field you want to go into, that's your own decision...it's another thing to have people always tell you!! Since I've started applying to med school, I've had like ten people either say "are you going to be a pediatrician?" or "you're going to be a pediatrician!" This is with no input from me on the subject, and I always find it baffling. And if I ask why, they usually say because of my voice...which I can't change, of course. :)

But how do they know this? What makes them think I wouldn't be a good doctor for non-pediatric populations? I just find it interesting...I love kids, and I really enjoy working with them, but I also like working with adults. Ah well...I guess only time with tell. :)

And if you folks are ever discussing this stuff over IM, add me! my screenname is ellemouse21

:)

praying4md:

Yep..that's definitely true :)
But I thought you enjoyed our time we spent together???!?!? :p :p :p

Apparently, you've never seen that famous scene from "When Harry Met Sally." The ladies will understand what I'm talking about here. :p On that note, I am officially withdrawing my application from Scooby's School of Pleasure. :p :D
