scramble for prelim yr?

Unfortunately I'm only able to fit in 3 TY interviews, and I didn't apply to any other med or surgery prelim yrs. Am I safe to assume it's fairly easy to scramble into a prelim year (IM, TY, or god forbid sugery) as I've been told? Plenty of open spots?
