I came across the SDN specialty quiz and thought I'd make a post to share my results to be able to look back on. Hopefully, I'll be starting medical school next fall, and I saw someone else post this type of thread around the same time and give an update now that they're going into residency.
I'll keep an open mind throughout medical school (partly the reason why I made this post, to see if/how much my interests change over the next 5 years), but I found it interesting how accurate this quiz was for me! My current career dream is neurosurgical oncology (and again, I'm sure this would change and I'm keeping an open mind!)
Here are some of my personality percentage matches with specialties I'm currently interested in:
General surgery - 93%
Neurological surgery - 87%
Pathology - 80%
Neurology - 78%
Medical genetics - 77%
Emergency medicine - 72%
Internal medicine (medical oncology) - 60%
Pediatrics - 48%
Alternatively, specialties I have never considered/currently have little interest in:
Dermatology - 48%
Psychiatry - 64%
Anesthesiology - 63%
Ophthalmology - 71%
I know that it'll be a completely different experience to actually rotate through these. I'm excited to gain new perspectives in medical school and can't wait to reply to this post in 5 years or so to compare where I end up!
