To anyone who has seen or witnessed secondary applications so far, I was wondering if any or all of them have essays associated with them or do medical schools just rely on the PS from AMCAS. Also, if they do have essays, what are some examples of them. 🙂 🙂

i depends entirely on the school. most require some sort of essay (though some are extremely short, and BU just wants your money).
the essays run the gamut from "why do you want to come here/why do you want to be a doctor" to "describe an experience in your life where you overcame a challenge, etc."

some schools want several short essays.
you might want to search through threads from last summer/fall to see what people posted about the secondaries just to get an idea. alternatively there are websites out there that have some info.

i guess the biggest question is where are you applying? because each school does its own thing so we can't really answer this with a general reply.
sorry to be vague...but i hope that helps just a tiny bit

The one I did for UCSD asked for an essay about yourself. A couple of other short ones were "what can you contribute to the class", "what obtacles did you overcome", "why this school". It really depends on your schools. I applied a whole mess of schools--40+ (mostly those who would take out of state students from cali) and for the most part, they were short essays....some asked the same questions so i cut and pasted from other essays. Yes....UCONN was very involved. if you apply to ucdavis and get a sec, they have tons of essays too. I believed either cornell or duke had a lot of short essays too.

Yeah that helps a great deal, Im applying to all schools in New York and Pennslyvania, but I wanted to get myself prepared to continue writing essays or not. But you were a great help, not vague at all, thanks.

That was very nice to see, thanks for the link.
