Self-developed X-ray film

Have anybody heard about the self-developed x-ray film. I heard of the phosphorus type which is used in the digital-radiology. With the self-developed x-ray film , you don't have to developed it---simple just expose the exposed film to nature light .......? Any doctor has used this type of film....please comment
