hey guys, so I am applying next year, so do you think it's a good idea to send a letter, including my CV to some schools, and ask them to send me more info, and help and stuff, or is it just a waste of time??

Admissions offices have a lot on their plates this time of year dealing with the thousands of applicants from the current application cycle. At most, you'd be lucky to get a brochure and a form letter encouraging you to apply. What I found to be helpful was to engage medical students (both DO and MD) in conversation whenever I saw them at coffee shops, etc. They were able to give me a lot of great, useful advice for applying to their respective programs.
