I know there was a thread on this recently, but I can't find it.

Is it a good idea to send an update letter (published abstract not on AMCAS) through e-mail? Or should it done more formally through snail mail??

Any advice?

I'm not applying this cycle, so I don't have any experience with this yet, but could you just call one of your top choices and say you would like to update them on some of your current activities/publications and what way would be most convenient for them? (aka will most easily find its way to your application file sooner)
Just an idea. Good luck 🙂

thanks, that's a good idea 🙂

I actually just sent one off this morning. I figured a typed letter was "classier", for lack of a better word. Plus they can just slip it into your file when they receive it.

i did the same thing for the TX schools and they said that an email to TMDSAS would then be sent out to all the schools. the TX schools don't take anything that isn't from TMDSAS.

I thought about it a lot and I think I'll send the school an email if they usually communicate through email and through snail mail if they don't.

Unless it is a letter of intent for a particular school. Then, it may be appropriate to just send the letter to the school of choice.

I took the advice of calling the admissions office to find out, and they said I can either e-mail or fax it. So i e-mailed it. At least this way they will have it right away!! 👍

i typed something nice and professional in a word document and emailed it as an attachment so they could get it quickly and just print it out. most schools replied by email thanking me and saying they'd add it to my file.
