Hello Folks,

I sent a LOI to a school shortly after my interview there.
This particular school takes about 2 months to get back to you
with a decision. Its been about a month.

So should I send an update letter before they get back to me??
Or should I wait for a decision, if its an acceptance then great..
if its a hold/waitlist then go ahead and send an update letter??

Any input is much appreciated.

I'd wait for a decision. If you get waitlisted, you'll need to update them and call them and show a lot of interest. But at this point, you've shown all the interest you can and just need to wait for a response. Stay positive, I told a school how much I was obsessed with them just after an interview and I got in. Good luck!

Just bumping this up before heading to school.

Come on guys anyone else have any tips/suggestions?

I dont think you should harass a school- but if you havent sent an LOI- or have something notable to update them with (ex: new grades, new job, volunteer stuff) then i would sent it before a decision has been rendered.

how significant is your update? did this update just occur recently or could you have included in your LOI? i agree not to bombard adcom. if the update is very exciting and recent, go ahead with the update before adcom makes a decision. good luck! :luck::luck:

The thing is, this update is an excellent clinical
EC. And the biggest weakness in my app is that
I only have one clinically related EC, and this has
been pointed out to me.

I dont want to sound like I am harassing the school
but I also think this will kind of fill in the weakness in
my app if that happens to be the adcom's concern.
I sent the LOI right after my interview and the update
EC or two just started this past week.

I don't think it's harassing the school. It will probably be tossed into your file unread by an admissions office employee anyway. The good thing is that it will be in your file when it comes up for review.

BUT WAIT: I just read your reply more closely and you just mentioned an "excellent clinical EC" that "just started this past week." From an adcomm perspective, those two statements might be mutually exclusive.

I have decided that I will send an update later exactly 8 weeks
post interview if I havent heard anything by then. By that time
I will be able to describe my EC more accurately and in better
detail.
