Service obligation with IM and Cards fellowship

Hey folks,
I am a long way away in my medical training to even be thinking seriously about cardiology but it's definitely been an interest of mine for sometime. I understand the competition involved in obtaining a spot and also know that programs favor "fresh" applicants right out of PGY-3. With that said, I was wondering if anyone has had any type of service obligation they have fulfilled (NHSC, military) and successfully matched cardiology later down the road?

Having to fill a military obligation is one of the few things that will delay your Match but not really mess with your chances all that much.
