shadowing and med school

have you guys found that shadowing a doc at the med school that you want to go to and getting a LOR helped you get into that med school? i am currently starting to shadow an AIDS doc at downstate, which is where i want to go.

I'd imagine it wouldn't hurt. One thing I've learned through out my life is that it's good to network with people whom share similar interests.
