Stats:
  • In the title but MCAT breakdown is 127/124/127/129
  • Cell and Molecular Biology with Minor in Literary Analysis
  • FL Resident
  • White and Female
  • Interested in both MD and DO
Medical ECs:
  • Research lab where I eventually became a mentor for other students: 400
  • Volunteering: 250 hours (includes a lot of patient interaction)
  • Shadowing (Urology, Cardiothoracic, Cardiology): 150 combined
Other ECs:
  • Community outreach to establish an initiative to alleviate homelessness through legislation
  • Lab technician and manager for 2 years
  • Peer Leading for a CHM 1 class
  • Personal Training certification and team manager
  • Craftmanship/Woodworking business
Good LORs but only 1 from a science professor (rather than 2). I also have a committee letter.
I meet the requirements for ECs but my MCAT feels like such a downer.
Help pleasseeeeeeeee

Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate the list. Are all the Florida schools suggested because they're in state? I'm wondering if my CARS score is too low for the cutoff and my application would be filtered out because schools like Morsani and UF specifically have pretty high MCATs. I'm also wondering about the filtering for the rest of schools as well.

The Florida schools all have instate preferences to varying degrees. Florida State is almost exclusively instate. Miami has a 10th percentile of 507 for instate though USF is 509 but they are worth applying to as a Florida resident. Both schools interview greater than 16% of residents who complete secondaries.
