Major: Biochemistry

Just got my MCAT score... 29O (13 PS 10 BS and 6 VB) ..... 3.82 scGPA and 3.82 overall

ECS:

Volunteered as Student Escort (150+) and shadowed

Research for 3 years: Presented at a conference at Notre Dame, Designed a Poster, On a the verge of completing a 1st author publication (probably won't have it ready this summer), Received summer award/stipend

Taught an advanced chemistry lab course containing freshman and sophomores

Made Deans list every semester (2009-2012)

Clearly getting a 6 on verbal really screwed me over :(

My plan was to retake it late july and submit all of my other stuff by
late june.

Should I try to take the test earlier or even consider waiting next year???????

Has anyone been in a similar type of situation and ended up improving their verbal score dramatically?

PLEASE HELP!

I heard any lower than an 8 on verbal is a huge red flag. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Don't re-take the MCAT until you are sure you can get that verbal score up at least a few points. If you are taking it any later than July, I would wait to apply until next year. How early or late you take the MCAT depends on how much preparation you need to be sure you will get a higher score next time you take it.

How many practice MCAT's did you take (under test conditions, full length, all in one sitting etc.)? and what did you make? What are your summer plans other than studying for the MCAT if you decide that you are going to apply this year?
