alrite, just checked my mcat and received 7-verbal, 10-physical, 11-biological, and Q-writing. my gpa is around 3.6, bunch of EC activities. Do i have a good chance of getting into med school or should i wait and take my mcat again? (i hate verbal)

Man,

You've gotta good chance. Seriously. Apply!!

My friend, just last year, got a 3.63 cum, 3.42 science, 10B, 10P, 7V, with an M.

He had 5 interviews, and got into 2 schools...but he only applied to 6 schools!

Apply. I gaurantee you'll get interviews at the least. If you don't get in, you'll know why and you can fix it.

I bet you'll get in though, if you apply sensibly and to a wide range of schools.

i agree. definitely apply. wide range (ie. top tier as well as middle/low tier schools) you have a good shot. apply to at least 15 or so schools. im sure youll get in. 🙂

Human Genome-
Apply without a doubt! You will get in! Also, how is your gpa?

my overall gpa is around 3.6, but my science is lower, around 3.4.

now i want to ask a more specific question, since i am from the west coast, i really really want to be able to stay in cali for med school...do i have a shot at the UC's?

It's possible but this process is so random that even if you have the perfect stat and experience, you might not get in.

You can try for the UCs...they are random and stats can be very misleading for them. Make sure to include USC and Loma Linda (if you can handle it). Also, include some schools like Finch, Albany, and George Washington. You can always come back to CA for your residency. Fresno had unfilled spots last year!

It's all up to you man...I personally don't see the hurt in trying to boost your low verbal though for balancing purposes...

human genome-
i would apply without a doubt. You will get in! What is most important is that you hit double digits in the science sections and a 7 in verbal is not really different than an 8. Plus, you've got a good gpa!
