I am worried about my chances of getting into a Peds Residency. I have a low step 1 score (214) and unfortunately only High passed my clerkship. I got good comments from my preceptors but unfortunately missed the cutoff by 1% on the shelf for honors. I have HP internal medicine, and P in Surgery, and am currently doing OB/GYN and Psych is left. I will be doing many electives in Peds during my fourth year and am hoping to do better in my AI. I want to go to an academic program somewhere on the east coast and was wondering what are my chances.
You will be fine. The average USMLE for peds this last cycle was 228, however, there was a 98.4% match rate.

82% of applicants that matched had scores >211
16% of applicants that matched had scores <211

As long as you apply broadly, you should match somewhere.

P.S. This is the Charting Outcomes for 2020. Scroll to page 162.
