Should I bother filling out FASFA if I come from a wealthy background?

To start, I recognize my immense privilege.

However, I'm wondering if I should bother filling out FASFA/school-specific fin aid forms now that I've received a couple of acceptances.

One of my parents is a physician, so needless to say, my family is pretty well off (combined income ~$500,000). Am I wasting my time filling out FASFA only to receive 0 in need-based aid?

I did not. Paid full tuition for college, and used my son's college fund for med school. Having said that, he received a student job as a Prosector in the human anatomy course in undergrad without me filling out FASFA. Dont think you would qualify for such monies without filling out FASFA.

I have similar question (but not in that bracket as OP 🙂 ) Does any schools that award merit need FAFSA?

Are you going to be taking out loans to pay for any part of med school? If so, then you need to fill out the FAFSA (but you don't need to fill out the part for your parents).

Is the FAFSA needed for Grad Plus loans? If so, then it is not a waste if mom and dad aren't going to foot the bill for you. You will get $0 need based aid.

Just to clarify, if you might need loans to fund any part of your COA (living costs or school costs), government loans require FAFSA.
IF NOT, even with that family income, you are very fortunate to have such generous parents especially if you have siblings who also has their undergraduate degrees paid for.
