I am a high school senior who was admitted to Amherst and Rice. I plan on applying to MD/PhD programs in the future. Please help me make a decision on which school I should attend. Thanks!
These are both great schools and you can accomplish your career goals at either. Go to the place that is cheaper and is in the location you want to spend the next 4 years

Thank you for your replies.

Here are my pros and cons for each school. My family will have to pay the same amount for both schools.

Pros for Amherst:
  • One of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation
  • Open curriculum
Pros for Rice:
  • Located in big city with lots of opportunities for research and shadowing nearby
Since I'm interested in MD/PhD programs, I'm a bit concerned that there won't be as many research/shadowing opportunities if I attend Amherst. However, Amherst is pretty hard to turn down.
Again, Rice is also an excellent school.

I get the sense you would like to weight these two options and come up with a "correct" decision based on some formula. Ultimately this is just a personal decision with no right or wrong answers. Go where you want to spend the next 4 years.
