Should I go to the caribbean

Retake the MCAT.

I got a 28N on the MCAT (a 6 on the verbal). I'm already taking a year off, should I retake the MCAT or should I just go to the caribbean? I've applied to 45 schools but i'm afraid my MCAT score will not suffice. I'm lost, what should I do?

GPA is...?

You should make an mdapplicants.com profile if you haven't already... that will help us give you some advice.

Well retaking the MCAT would help, but since you're already in the cycle, and the Janurary MCAT is probably not going t help much, it really all depends on your GPA. If you have a strong gpa, it can overcome your MCAT. Dont worry for now, its a long time before next May, when you'll have a much better idea. Besides, it only takes 4 weeks to apply and get accepted to a caribbean school, so theres no rush.

If i take the Jan. MCAT will it help my apps now... if i get interviews, will it help if i get a better score in Jan?

Nope most schools will not look at the Jan mcat for this year

45 schools is a lot of schools. I am sure you can get in somewhere with a 28. But if not, I honestly would not reapply in the US. If you already have such a large range of schools, unless you drastically improve MCAT, I don't think it will help too much. That being said, I think you have a legitimate shot this season.😀

pepperman, I say apply if you have a good GPA. There are people in med school with 6, 7, and 8s in VR (MD in US). It sounds like you've already paid for everything so you might as well imo. I'm in a similar situatio. 🙂

Holy crap look at number of secondaries you've done! How's everything back up in Gainesville. Haven't visited since I graduated in May. Hopefully I can mail in my UF secondary in a few days. 🙂

Edit: pepperman, I just saw your MD apps. Do you have clinical experience? If you have some of that, I say apply. You have a good chance if you pick your schools correctly, but in-state would be pretty hard.

I think you are a shoe in for the DO schools. You are above average in everything but your verbal score.
