Don’t worry about it. If they ask, don’t lie. Say you found a different position. Schools understand that future plans change. If I were a medical school, I wouldn’t even look at the future activities of applicants. If your volunteering is weak without this opportunity, find another volunteering opportunity for a few hours per week. Otherwise, don’t sweat it.In my primary and secondary applications, I indicated that I would be volunteering full time in a lab for my gap year. However, I have recently been offered and accepted a paid position elsewhere (I could not pass off this offer because I really need the money and I would not have been able to physically go into the lab).
When would it be acceptable to notify schools I have already submitted secondaries to about this change?
