My school offers two chemistry sequences:
1)General Chemistry I(w/lab), General Chemistry II(w/lab), and Qualitative Analysis
2)Fundamental Chemistry I(w/lab), Fundamental Chemistry II(w/optional lab that counts as qualitative analysis for this route)
I have to complete one of these for my major and I decided to begin the more difficult route, the second one, and really regret this decision as medical schools outside of my state won't know the difference in difficulty and can only see my mediocre grades. I ended up making a B the first semester, and a C the second. I also didn't take the optional lab associated with the second semester, so I'd still need to take that to meet medical school prerequisites. My current GPA beginning my junior year is a 3.7 and these grades are my lowest. I would rather take all the courses in the first option than take the lab associated with the second semester of option two. If I take the courses for the first sequence now, would that be viewed as a negative by adcoms? I am very confident I would make As, as I tutored students following this sequence while I was in the other. Would this be considered a retake, even though the courses have different numbers and titles? More importantly, which grades would I list on my secondaries for "General Chemistry"?
