The other day a nurse practitioner (DNP) introduced herself as "doctor" to me... She probably noticed that I

No matter what I am, I could never be as incredible as you. That’s all that matters! ;)
I am the one going around the hospital introducing myself as "doctor" when I didn't even get prompted...

Or I am the one coming to SDN every day arguing with a bunch of type A people about how good my profession is...

I’m not arguing about anything, I’m just providing you the praise and validation you desperately need! Great job! Go you!

Funny story about coats. One of the doctors I work with and a good friend of mine decided we should be pulmonologists for our ED shift one Halloween. Pulm doctors are notorious for wearing scrubs with either a blazer or suit jacket. We didn’t want to spend a lot of money though and definitely didn’t want to wear real jackets in the ED, so we made our way to the thrift store and bought a couple suit jackets for $5. Everything was going great until I had a code. So I’m running this code in a $5 thrift store jacket and then I have to talk to the family and I forgot I was wearing it. Got some strange looks.

Worth it.

On topic: white coats suck.

Look, Drs should just start wearing wife-beaters! When everyone copies, we switch to scrubs and the joke's on them ;)

Ironically, half the Drs. introduce themselves by their first name, and the NPs introduce themselves as Dr.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
This.
New look I'm going for: Scrubs, blazer, bandana/mohawk. I'll get mad respect.

DNP’s are pretty well rounded; they usually have a chip on both shoulders.
Well then that’s a minimum of four white coat pockets needed. One for each chip, one for the brain of a doctor, and another for the heart of a nurse.
