Hi there,
You need to know about mechanical ventilation, nutrition, acid-base balance and fluids. There is actually enough in Lawrence to get you started. Another good resource is Cleveland Clinic Surgical Patient Management or Duke University's Surgical Critical Care. Marino's ICU book is too dense for everyday reading and reference (good for looking up stuff for presentations). If you can find Elefertides' House Officer's Guide to the ICU, this is the best book ever written and you won't need anything else.
