Do you HAVE to do significiant research ( more than one summer) in order to get into a radiology residency? has anyone gotten in with just summer reseach or maybe no research at all?

I think a good idea might be to take a research elective in radiology during your third or fourth year... That way you can gain research without surrendering a summer. I know of a few who have matched in this manner

Research is by no means a necessity to match into radiology, but doing some research will help obtain a spot at a academic university program. I only did 1 summer of research (between 1st and 2nd year of med school), got no article out of it and am now a R-1 (PGY-2) at a very good university program. I know of many others that found spots at decent programs with no research at all.

Good luck.
