Do I need to send my PCAT scores to all the schools I am applying to if they participate in PharmCas or do I just check off PharmCas?

Check pharmcas. I made the mistake of checking the individual schools instead of checking pharmcas. 😱

I made this mistake as well. Am I able to fix this and go select Pharmcas now or do I have to wait until a few weeks after the PCAT?

You can go into the test website and add a entity to send the scores to. It will cost $20 to do so.

I did the same thing...when I called Harcourt I was told that if you checked any PharmCAS school, it would automatically be sent to PharmCAS instead of directly to the school, so you shouldn't have to change anything.

I'm sorry, but I just got really freaked out for a second. I'm going to contact Harcourt, but I didn't need to put down pharmcas as long as I put down "PharmCAS Schools?" (I just don't want to dish out any more money -.-)

Yes, from what I understood if you selected any school that participates in PharmCAS the score will be sent directly to PharmCAS and not directly to the school. For example, instead of checking the PharmCAS box (which I completely missed) I checked University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Maryland, and since they both participate in PharmCAS the scores will be sent straight to PharmCAS. Let me know if you find out anything different when you contact Harcourt.

I accidently did this too, but it still charged me for the school? I was ticked I wasted $20.

Yeah I have to dish out the extra money. Even though your school get's the scores from PCAT, you have to put down PharmCAS (at least for UF). Kind of annoying b/c I get conflicting reports from some adviser and pharmcas.... Can anyone tell me the website or number I call to request another school (pharmcas) to be put down? (I'm registered for the test in October)? I don't really want to risk making a mistake and having to wait another year to reapply b/c of one small thing. I mean we're already dishing out a ton, what's another 40 bucks *sigh*.

Edit: This is what my adviser told me: "PharmCas is correct when they receive your scores they will send them along with your application packet to us BUT in order for PharmCas to send the scores you have to request that the PCAT testing agency send the scores to PharmCas."
So I think that means PharmCAS can / will only send it out to the institutions you selected on pharmcas if you select pharmcas when you signed up for the PCAT. A little confusing I know.

I actually just came across this on the PCAT registration site, I don't know why I didn't notice it before. When you register for the PCAT and go to the score recipients tab, it says this on the right hand side in red:

"Select the school codes for the desired recipient schools from the existing list of all pharmacy schools. When you select a score recipient school that is a member of PharmCAS, the scores will be sent electronically to PharmCAS. These scores may or may not also be sent on paper transcripts, depending on the indicated preferences of the recipient schools, at no additional charge to you."

This makes it sound like you don't necessarily have to check off PharmCAS for PharmCAS to actually send the scores to the schools. If not, then I'm really confused.

Harcourt said: "As long as the Recipient School you selected is a member of PharmCas, we will automatically send the test results to PharmCas. If you selected the school instead of PharmCas, we will catch this error and forward the information to PharmCas. This is a courtesy extended to all examinees."

I called them again, and said this is a very common mistake. Therefore, you don't have to do anything about it. They will automatically send it to PharmCas whether or not you selected it. So you don't have to dish out any extra money. Thank Goodness!
