Does have more similarity between the person asking and the person asked promote compliance?

I found this study: https://www.scu.edu/media/college-o...ychology/documents/Burger-et-al-PSPB-2004.pdf that found that those who shared a birthday, first name, or finger-print similarity with a requester were more likely to comply with their request than participants who did not perceive a similarity with the requester.

So, the answer seems to be yes. The study also comments on how it confirms earlier findings that heuristic processing is used when responding to requests and that perceived similarities lead to positive affect (which leads to an increased compliance).
