It'd be my first time at SIR. I'm a post-second year med student doing research year. Haven't attended any med student symposia yet.
Are any of these workshops necessary to purchase? Or will there already be plenty of opportunities for students like me to practice and learn techniques? These are the workshops:

All hands-on workshops require pre-registration and a $20 fee to hold your spot. Please note that all other educational sessions at the SIR meeting, including workshops and scientific and general sessions do not require pre-registration and attendees will be accommodated on a first-come, first served basis. For a complete list of daily events and educational programs, visit www.SIRMeeting.org.
