Socialized Medicine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
DNC “Medicare for All” or GOP “Repeal Obamacare”... on face value... those are some incredibly crappy platforms.
DNC is not in favor of Medicare-4-All.

The Democratic Party, the majority(corporate-wing) of the party, wants to "preserve" Obamacare and wants to drag this "save or repeal Obamacare" drama as long as possible until the people lose interest and next election cycle, then spark it up with a "public option" proposal, which will be drag for another soap opera episode and to be killed in the end of a vote. That was the game plan for the Democratic Party for 2016 and onward until some unknown elderly Jewish Senator from an unknown state with no money, no charisma whom didn't even want to run for president came into the picture.

As I said before, Obamacare is a right-wing reform designed to be a conservative respond to the liberal proposal of single-payer. The Democratic Party is pretty much the conservative party, wanting to keep the status quo with minor tweaks around the edges while the Republicans, who aren't stupid of the situation, has been shifting to near fascism(far-right) and wanting to go back to pre-Obamacare and pre-New Deal era which the Democrats don't mind at all in order to keep up the charade.

But both parties are facing new challenges: new voter demographic, the growing anti-establishment anti-corruption sentiment and the ever free-flowing information of the Internet. With the Internet, more and more people are getting their news and source from independent media, getting more aware and informed of politicians and the political games that politicians play. As I said before, 2020 Democratic primary is going to be make-or-delay changes and as well with the pivotal 2022 mid-term election. That is if Bernie Sanders wins the nomination.

Obamacare is a rip-off of Romneycare.

Republican Bob Dole proposed a similar reform during his 1996 presidential campaign that was heavily supported by ultra-conservatives, Newt Gringrich and Chuck Grassley, after blasting, the lesser individual-mandate, Hillarycare as "socialism."

Conservative right-wing corporate think-tank, the Heritage Foundation, wrote series of policy papers of a healthcare reform, similar to Obamacare, as a conservative respond to single-payer.

The father of the individual-mandate system, Richard Nixon, proposed a pre-Obamacare reform as he feared Ted Kennedy's universal healthcare bill prior to the 1972 election.

Jimmy Carter, socially liberal, fiscal conservative, proposed an individual-mandate reform as he disagreed with Ted Kennedy.

The purpose of Obamacare, or the individual-mandate system, is to keep the private health individual insurance companies in business, or in other word, in control. This is the Republicans' idea, the conservatives' idea since it has less government and still having the private health insurance companies a large role. Guess how many Republicans voted for Obamacare when it got pass? Zero.

Yeah, I’m not really interested in your version of a history lesson, since I lived in MA when Mitt was governor (which party do you think overwhelmingly controlled the Massachusetts House and Senate in 2006 btw) and when Obama was president. Actually the drive for healthcare reform by the Massachusetts Democratic legislature was the drowning of hospitals due to EMTALA.

Anywho, your assessment and history lesson seem to confirm you don’t know any people who are conservatives or right leaning, so I’m not sure your point.

Keynesian economics only work as a stop gap. FDRs policies were economically terrible. There is a difference in churning a wartime economy short term and a sound economic strategy.

Much prefer someone who studies the Austrian School of economics.
Excellent post. Keynes economic policys are fraudulant long term, many nations have proven it. Much like the Zimbabwean school of economics. Your post deserves more likes than I can give for even mentioning the Austrian school as well.

If you are trying to say the dems are centrists and republicans have moved far right it couldn’t be more wrong. Did you watch the democratic debates? They were literally demonizing stuff that was the centerpoint of prior democratic administrations and scoring “points” on Biden for his “racist” role in government and having the audacity to consider how to pay for stuff.
