I just called about my application. It has been verified, but there was no date processed. Apparently applications are not sent out immediately, but only on specific days. The next one is November 1st and that's when the date processed will show up! :)

Who told you that? An AMCAS "specialist"?
Because it doesn't jibe with my experience. I was verified on 10/11, and got a Date Processed of 10/11, then unverified while they fixed an error I had complained that I was unable to fix, and finally got a new Date Processed of 10/12. And Nancy Tillinghast told me the apps weren't going out until 10/15. Plus, someone on another thread, GG16 I believe, got verified and a date processed yesterday. Ah, the mysterious ways of AMCAS...

Seriously, isn't "Good AMCAS News" an oxymoron? ;)

yup...i got red X's and processed all yesterday!

Congrats, efjayen!! :D That is good AMCAS news.! :)

does anyone know how long it takes AMCAS, after they verify your application, to transmit the VERIFIED app to med schools? I was FINALLY verified on Monday (after over 3 months of waiting) but when I called some med schools today to check on the status of my apps, they said they were still waiting for verification.... :(

Yep, a specialist. I know they lie, but it did make me feel better for a bit. I submitted really late, so it sounds reasonable...but perhaps that's how they lure you in. :)

I also got the red X's yesterday and was verified on the same day.
And my app even says it's processed.
Hot dang!
I don't know what the November 1st thing is all about.

Welcome to SDN!! :D And, congrats on being verified!! :D :D As to how long it will take for your verified app to get to the schools, it's highly variable. Some schools have the capability to receive verified apps in their entirety electronically, and for those schools, transmission is supposed to be fairly instantaneous. I heard back from UVa and U Pittsburgh within days after verification that my app was complete. Other schools, even though supposedly having the capapbility, take longer to process the fact that your app is verified. And then there are the schools with no capability of receiving entire verified app electronically (the vast majority of schools, I'm convinced). These schools receive a "summary" app (check the AMCAS website for what all this contains, I don't think it has the essays) which is sent out weekly, I believe on Mondays, and then later (how much later is unclear) AMCAS sends them a hard copy of your app. Then of course, your app is just sitting there at the bottom of that huge pile of mail that the school has yet to open. Most schools seem to be way behind in their data entry. So, bottom line, don't hold your breath, although you may hear from a few schools sometime soon.

I was told today that once you are verified the rate limiting step is really the school at this point. AMCAS does nothing to transmitt your app electronically. Rather, schools log on an download your application electronically. Like SMW said, some are pretty quick but others are not. Stanford does not have my record yet even though I've been verified for about three weeks. However, USC, who I added recently got the transmission the same date I added them, at least that is the date on my application. I still have no date by stanford and their database does not acknowledge me.

Those dates by the schools on your application have nothing to do with transmission of the verified app, they're only a notification to the school that you're applying, with some very preliminary info like name and address. I never did get dates by some of my schools, and when I called to ask about it, I was told not to worry, that the info had gone out to all my schools....... Just the normal AMCAS way of doing (or not doing) things, I guess. ;)

Hey SMW,

Maybe I'm too optimistic of what could have been and will be a more streamlined application process. The "specialist" I spoke with today said that electronic transmission dates are what is supposed to show up next to the list of schools and I figured since I was already processed that maybe I could be lucky for once in this process. Oh well. Either way, that is they way things are supposed to be.

Sundevil, do you have dates from after your verification? Were you one of the lucky ones who were processed within days of submitting, perchance? Anyway, 19 out of 22 schools I designated had dates within 5 days to 3 weeks after I submitted. I just checked again and one of the 3 with missing dates, now has a date of 10/26, 2 weeks after I was processed. Those 3 schools not having any dates next to them did not stop the schools from sending me secondaries or access to them. The one school I never have heard from, had one of the earlier dates next to it. The whole thing is very bizarre. I'm sure by next year, they'll have all the kinks worked out, but then, given how they've performed next year, maybe not..........Let's put it this way. I certainly hope to never have to deal with them again.

SMW
I waited three months to get processed and it took many phone calls and emails. My transmission date to USC is the same day I added them and yes, it is after I was processed.
