I was hoping to buy the second edition of this book at a cheaper price (used), but I have been looking on amazon, half, and couple of other stores. But the price listed on there is 110 new/ 67 used! Even though you can buy this book brand new from examkrackers for 40 dollars. It just doesn't make sense...

so why dont you just buy it from examkrackers then? i don't see where the problem is here

Amazon currently has a seller selling it for $40. Deep Discount has it for $36. Amazon is usually $35-40, the problem is that Amazon itself usually sells out quickly. Thus, you have to rely on people selling through Amazon that frequently jack up the price.

Well... I am totally fine with a used book, so I am just checking in case someone was aware of a used book site that sold it for 10 dollars cheaper. If not I will probably end up buying it new off EK. I did find it very odd though, that people would jack up the price so far, unless that think buyers are unaware you can get it straight from the manufacture.

Thanks for the info SN2ed.

New copies of EK Verbal 101 are available for $28 from booksamillion.com. The catch is that it takes 2-4 wks to ship.

Thanks medicalcpa! I had been looking for the verbal 101, but couldn't find it for much better than the original OPer could. I was able to get it for $27 like you said, a great deal!

Supply and demand....

i have a copy of the older 101 book. i know the new book has 60 min. tests, and the old one has 85 min. tests.. but were there any other changes done to the books? or are they basically the same passages/questions, just with a couple less in the new book?

im trying to decide if i should bother buying the new one.

Same thing I heard. The errors were not even fixed. Just split for 60 mins instead of whatever the older one was. Just more like the CBT but same thing.... I wouldn't waste my money on it, but some people like it being "offical". You can also split it up so its 60 mins on ur own.

I bought it from Barnes and Noble. The book was originally selling for $37, but with tax, it was about $40. I used an online coupon and my NSCS membership discount, so I was able to get the book for under $30, including tax, with free shipping. This book was well worth it.

What is NSCS? o_0 some kinda B&N membership card? I bought mine on ebay for like 37 dollars... and it took a long time to get here. Now I got a 2002 copy and the new one... long story... both in new condition.

Wow, I just got mine off of amazon for $17 last month, and it was in great condition. I guess I was lucky.

If you wait around a while, one will probably pop up for cheap sooner or later. With everyone studying for the spring MCAT(s), though, it might be a while.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a national college honor society. They are affiliated with many companies, Barnes and Noble being one of them. So if I sign-in my NSCS account and buy books, I get a small discount.
