I'm wearing black pants and a tailored button-down top... my suit jacket doesn't fit anymore but I have a beautiful black wool trench coat. Is it absolutely necessary to wear a suit jacket AND a coat? I've been told it's a must... but I was planning on wearing the trench coat into the interview and then taking it off before I sit down (so I'd just have the button-down shirt on).

Suggestions? Comments? Anything?!?
