If you go to the MCG page, they have stats posted about just about everything the school has done. The stats show that the school does pretty well each year on National Boards part II, which is the clinical part, but not so hot on Part I, the academic part. This means that the school trends toward preparing its students in the clinical setting; schools like Nova, Univ. of Tenn., and UOP also stress this idea. MCG doesnt claim to be an academic powerhouse, but apparently produces clinicians that know their stuff well enough.
The school name won't give you any advantage in specializing, but, as anyone will tell you...it's MUCH more about how well you do in school and what you make of your time then what school you went to. Plus, as you know, the "good ol' boy (or chick, in your case)" factor is a big one in the south...people in GA like to hear that you went to school in GA (not that many will ask).
Also, you will still retain relationships with your classmates that will give you "connections" as you establish your practice. My roommate is applying there for this next year and is pretty confident he can get in due to the 2.5/1 applicants/accepted ratio.
