I currently work as a pharmacy manager in a hospital outpatient pharmacy. Great pharmacy hrs, no weekends, no holidays, great group of people. But pharmacy may have a dicy future considering the volume is low.
I recently got offered a speciality pharmacy position as a staff pharmacist within the same hospital . It's going to be a totally new venture for the hospital. No weekends , or holidays .but most likely I won't be the manger, which is really my forte. I work well as an in charge vs a staff.

I wonder if I should take it or let it pass. I have no experience in speciality , have been wanting to get out of retail ( not necessarily my current pharmacy ) ..this could be an opportunity towards that , but not sure if this is going to be it for me.
What could be the pros or cons of making this switch. Would really appreciate if you all can throw in your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks for your inputs. Still curious as to what is the day like.. What does a speciality pharmacy pharmacist do ?
It seems like they are hiring a clinical specialist too primarily to do the consults and talk to the physicians. So what's left for me other than checking Rxs? Making phone calls?

Specialty pharmacy will provide >50% of profits for major retail chains in a few years. I'd definitely want to be in this type of setting.
