Hi Guys, I just got an invite to interview at Stanford!!!! I am pretty geeked about it. I have a couple of questions. When did they start interviewing? How many people do they interview? Is it a rolling or non-rolling process? Do you think that a March interview is worth it? I am 99% sure that I am going to go, but just wanted some feedback. I love the school and would be so excited to go there but I have had my heart broken so many times already. I interviewed at Pitt (HW), Case (H), Mayo (R), NU (FORTHCOMING!!), WashU (No Clue), Duke (?), Umich (W), Columbia (?), NYU (W), and am waitlisted or still waiting to hear a response from two more and this was all really early in the process -- Sept-Dec. I feel like the ultimate interview *****. Hopefully I'll get in off the waitlist somewhere!!!!!!!! Anyways, if someone could answer these questions on Stanford or the waitlist stuff that would be great!!! Thanks

They interview 4-500 ppl and accept about 160. It is rolling (decisions come 2-5 weeks post-interview), and of course a March interview is "worth it," but I'd recommend doing a Feb one if there are any Feb dates open. They started interviewing in Dec, but most of the Dec interviews were MD/PhD people. They started full swing with MDs in Jan and will likely continue through April.

Why do you want to wait until March to interview? Are all the Feb dates taken?

When I logged in to schedule my interview there were only dates in March available.

Wow, they must be sending out lots of invites now. When I scheduled mine back in January, there were dates available within a week...

oh my gosh, you got an invite on a WEEKEND? *frantically checks email but no sign of stanford anywhere* -oh well. A March interview is definitely worth it! I know a girl who got accepted after an April interview...she didn't have great stats either, just wowed them with her stunning personality 😎 .

I'm sorry about all those waitlists, but HW at Pitt is pretty darn good--I bet you'll be in come April/May. I would really focus on my stanford interview though. I have this theory that late interviews can actually be very promising. ADCOMs probably waitlisted/put on hold many deserving interviewees in Sept/Oct because they're still not sure what this year's candidate pool looks like, but if they interview a similar applicant come March/April when they need to fill up their class, then who do you think they'll accept? Surely it will be the applicant they interviewed last week. Call me cynical, but who wants to go back and look at the 50+ applicants on hold? Anyway, good luck at Stanford! It shouldn't be hard to convince the ADCOM that you love it there 🙂
