Would someone with an MSAR book on hand be so kind as to tell me the interview stats for Stanford: how many are interviewed total and how many are interviewed out of state? Thanks!

are people starting to be invited to Stanford for interviews? if so, how were you notified? thanks.

Here are the Stanford stats:

5,247 total applications
525 interviewed
241 in state, 284 out state
86 new entrants
40 in state, 46 out state

From last year's MSAR:

# of / in-state / out-of-state / total

applicants 2,026 3,787 5,813

interviewees 240 320 560

enrollees 40 46 86

looks like they favor in-state.

I did get an interview from Stanford. I was notified by regular mail--that's the only way you can be notified. I got the letter on Friday. Thanks for all the responses.

I'm out of state.

2004,
When was your app complete?

They sent me a letter back at the beginning of September saying that my application was complete. I don't have it right now so I don't know the exact date. But from a couple of other threads, I found out that they have a new computer system this year which is delaying their screening process. Hope that helps.

So Stanford prefers in-state.... that's what I thought.... do any of you guys know how harsh/nice they are to Canadians? Do they prefer Canadians the most out of all the internationals (especially those who are doing their undergrad at an ivy in the US, like me 🙂 )??????????

Anyway, till the responses.....

P.S. Good luck to all of you applying/interviewing there!

Stanford doesn't give in-state preference.

All private schools tend to attract and enroll a large number of local in-state residents (even if they don't give them preference) for obvious reasons.

Stanford sends letters to verify completion? I thought we just had to check on that site..

no, it's not updated through the status page. it's only through snail mail.

Yeah, I did not receive a letter of completion either...only knew that my app is complete through the status website. hmm...this is weird, stanford sends out confirmation letter to certain ppl only...

Sorry folks, but I think I inadvertently spread some misinformation. Stanford did not send out a letter saying my application was complete. I think I confused that with a different school. The letter I got was from August, asking me to complete a secondary. Otherwise, your application's completeness can be reviewed online. I'm really sorry about that!!!

From Stanford website:

Evaluation and selection are based upon standards of merit, and no quotas of any kind play a role in the admission process. No preference is given to California residents. (See Statement of Non-Discriminatory Policy.)

Well, they claim not to favor Cali residents, but then their numbers seem to indicate otherwise. Ah well, UCSF is legally not allowed to discriminate based on race, but they still love the URM's.

it's been more than two weeks since i've submitted my secondary, but it's not showing up on the status page. should i be concerned and call the admissions office?
