hey all,

im looking to do some light reading this summer for pathology (im currently an m1)....wondering if anyone can recommend a good book/resource? big robbins? baby? brs? something else? nothing too heavy in terms of reading...just 5-6 pages a day for a few months - i figure i can get a few hundred pages done over the summer which cant hurt.
any suggestions?

baby robbins is good, esp if your library has access to MD Consult because you can always get the online robbins for the diagrams (as far as i understand that's all that's missing from baby robbins).. if u don't wanna go online then go with robbins.. it's what i live by (we're systems so we've done half of patho)

hey, im not sure if my school uses md consult, but ill check. it might be a pain to look up every picture....should i use the big book or is this just overkill? do people use the big version or the baby version for class usually?

i'd say go w/ BRS path.....easy reading with big robbins is non-existant

BRS path is the gold standard for Step 1 path prep.

hey,

thanks for the advice...having never had path before, would BRS path be a good learning tool or only useful for review once the concepts have been mastered elsewhere?
thanks for the tips!

Although it sounds like a great idea, I suggest you do not read BRS path. It is an excellent review, and definately is the gold standard for step 1. However, I don't think reading it ahead of time will be much utility, as I personally think it works much better as a review. I suggest you either get step up which is systems based, or first aid which is subject based and go over what you've already covered to solidify it. If you've done pharm, get pharm cards or go over the pharm stuff in first aid, and make sure you know the stuff really well. If you've done micro, get microbio made rediculously simple and memorize the book. Believe me, it beats having to relearn the stuff on wards (as I have had to do). Otherwise, just have fun during your summer and don't study.
