I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but what are the average MCATs and GPAs for DO schools? Stats on all schools are welcome. Thanks a lot!

Medical School information - from the 1997 annual U.S. NEWS and WORLD REPORT

Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (Kirksville, MO) Average MCAT: 9.5 Average GPA: 3.4 In State: 13% Class Size: 145 Science GPA of 2.5 required. A letter from a physician or employer is required.

University of North Texas Health Science Center Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (Fort Worth, TX) Average MCAT: 9.1 Average GPA: 3.5 In State: 93% Class Size: 100 Non-resident applicants should have academic credentials at least equal to or greater than the mean GPA and mean total MCAT score of the last entering class.

Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (Tulsa, OK) Average MCAT: 8.7 Average GPA: 3.5 In State: 83% Class Size: 88 Minimum 3.0 GPA and 7.0 average MCAT. A full academic year sequence with no grade below "C" in each of these: English, biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics. Applicants must take one of the following: biochemistry, microbiology or molecular biology, embryology, histology, comparative anatomy or cellular biology.

Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Average MCAT: 8.6 Average GPA: 3.4 In State: 82% Class Size: 125 Science and Overall GPA of 2.5 required, but entering class GPAs have been well above 3.3. Strongly recommend coursework in biochemistry.

University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (Maine) Average MCAT: 8.5 Average GPA: 3.3 In State: 7% Class Size: 80 Minimum GPA 2.7. Preference given to residents of New England and those oriented toward practice in New England.

West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (Lewisburg, WV) Average MCAT: 7.1 Average GPA: 3.4 In State: 77% Class Size: 65 Minimum science GPA of 2.5 required. Contractual agreements with Southern Regional Education Board gives second preference to GA, Mississippi, and Alabama residents.

Hey charlie, The average score on the MCAT for a student entering an osteopathic medical school in 1998(class of 2002)was approximately a 25.6 and the GPA was a 3.4 .
