well if you do well on step 2, residency directors will look at that favorably....there may be schools where if you don't meet their cutoff based on step 1s will grant you an interview based on step 2s...definately, it can make a difference at some places....
if you do about the same as step 1, it probably won't play any factor....

It can only help you to take step 2 early.But try to rock it.Most applicants with good scores don't take step 2 for the simple reason of doing poorly as compared to step 1 which may bring down their application.But this ain't so in your case.So by all means go ahead but try to do well.

Thanks for the help, I feel better... I'm going to start studying now for STEP 2 and take it before I finish clinicals, that ought to give me plenty of time to make sure I know what I need to, and hopefully do really well on this one.
