Step III

I just started my internship in Illinois. I was wondering if anyone knows when step 3 is typically taken in the state. I would love to take it before the end of my internship so that when I start my residency I could focus on Radiology.

Check with your PD. I think you take step 3 after your first year, unless you are an FMG (then after your 3rd year). Again, check with your program director (or the sec)

Annette is right. The rules vary state by state. We are required to take Step 1 by the end of the first year (although it isn't apparently stringently enforced).
