can anyone tell me what kind of scores are necessary at some of the top programs?

also, does anyone know what the average scores are?

any residents, or rotators know? thanks for your help!

It changes year to year. Everyone knows that anesthesia is becoming more competitive. Do your best on Step 1 to keep all doors open. A couple of years ago, the Ave Step 1 score to matched Hopkins residents was 218. I am sure that has gone up. Scores aren't everything, but kicking butt on Step 1 will get you interviews everywhere. You can then use your personality to lock in a coveted spot.
 
Hi, good question.

Given that anesthesiology is NOT as competitive as Neurosurgery, ENT, Urology, Dermatology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Ophthalmology (and probably never will be), you should probably shoot for average on Step I. That will guarantee you a spot somewhere.
