How diminished have my chances for admission gotten if I'm still in the process of mailing out secondaries? I was expecting a very poor MCAT score, so I wasn't on top of everything when I found out it was "competative enough." Plus, my school is on the quarter system, so I didn't get out until the middle of June. Med school apps weren't exactly on my mind in the middle of finals.

I filed my AMCAS in late-July and because of a credit card processing problem, it wasn't transmitted to my schools until about a week into August. The majority of my secondaries have since been mailed in about mid-September, but I've still got a handful to do. Plus, my letter forwarding service at my school forgot to tell me they received all my expected letters, which has delayed the mailing of my references by about a week.

I'm just reading over some of the messages on this board and it has gotten me pretty down. Bottom line is I procrastinated because I wasn't really prepared to fill out my application (since I thought I would be taking the August MCAT and would have to wait for those scores anyway), but I was also unlucky (the aforementioned credit card and file service delays).

For what it's worth, my states are 3.815/31S at a UC.

I really wouldn't worry about it too much. You may end up interviewing after the new year, but lots of people do, and they get in too! Hey, my secondaries and recs didn't get turned in until it was almost X-Mas break! My first interview was Jan 18th, and my last was in March. I had no trouble with acceptances, and my stats were a bit lower than yours. Now, you may have to contend with wait lists, but the good news is, you will probably be closer to the top than say, a less competitive applicant who had everything in on time. Those who rank below you in stats (however the schools rank students) will always trail you on wait lists, no matter who turned in the app first! Good luck, and try to get those secondaries done ASAP!

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I needed to read.
